Buying a car?

How much take-home income do you need for this car?

Start from the car, your current expenses, and the monthly buffer you want to keep. SaktoPara estimates the monthly take-home income needed — not gross salary — that would cover all three.

Starting with example numbers so you can see a result right away. Replace them with yours.

What this tool answers

This is the reverse of Can I Afford This Car? Instead of asking how much would be left from a known income, it asks how much take-home income you would need so a chosen remaining amount is still there after expenses and estimated car costs.

Example

The form above starts with the same example: current expenses of ₱32,000, a remaining buffer of ₱10,000, and a car that costs about ₱30,071 a month all-in. The estimated monthly take-home needed is the sum of those three amounts, about ₱72,071. Changing the car price, down payment, or ownership assumptions changes the income estimate.

The same calculation engine is used across all car tools. See the methodology for formulas and assumptions.

Questions people ask

Is this gross salary or take-home pay?

Take-home pay. SaktoPara works from money actually available in the month after tax and mandatory contributions. Convert from gross salary yourself if needed.

Why do I need to enter expenses and a buffer?

A car that fits the loan payment can still squeeze the rest of the month. This tool solves for income that covers current expenses, estimated car costs, and the amount you still want left.

Does a higher down payment lower the income needed?

Usually yes, because the financed principal and monthly loan drop. Ownership costs such as fuel still remain. Try the down payment field to see the change.
